Copyright & takedowns

In short
Melo never uploads or rehosts audio, and it makes no money from any of it. It only lists sounds whose source allows them to be streamed or embedded, and credits every creator. If you own a sound and want it corrected or removed, email hello@melo.today. Removals are handled first, and questions come later.
How Melo sources sounds
- Every sound is checked on its original page before it’s listed, and its licence and the date it was checked are shown.
- Openly licensed or public-domain files (Wikimedia Commons, the Internet Archive, CC0 sounds on Freesound) stream directly from those services’ servers.
- Everything else plays only through the official player of the service it lives on (YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp), which the creator controls and can switch off.
- Melo never strips, downloads or re-uploads audio, and never removes credits.
The full rules are in Melo’s content policy; how each source is handled is on the About page.
No money is made from the sounds
Melo makes no money from the sounds and music it lists: no ads, no subscriptions, no paid features, no sponsors and no affiliate links. Nothing on Melo is sold. When you buy music through a link on Melo (for example on Bandcamp), the purchase happens on that service and goes to the artist; Melo takes no cut. Melo is a free, non-commercial project, which is also why sounds under non-commercial (NC) licences can be listed. If that ever changes, these pages will say so first and any non-commercial sounds will be removed.
Requesting a removal or correction
Email hello@melo.today with:
- the link to the sound on Melo;
- what you’d like done: remove it, or correct the credit, title or licence;
- for removals, who you are and how you hold the rights (for example a link to your official profile or label);
- a statement that the information in your request is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Melo acknowledges requests within 24 hours and normally acts within a few days; at the latest within 15 days. Where a removal request looks credible, the sound is taken down first and any questions are asked afterwards.
Because the audio itself lives on another service, you may also want to contact that service (for example YouTube or SoundCloud), which is the only one that can remove the original.
Grievance contact
For complaints about content on Melo, including under India’s Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the contact is Bhavarth Bhati, hello@melo.today.
Trademarks
